After breakfast go for Krem Riblai, Sohra (Cherrapunjee), Khasi Hills for Vertical caving .(From the village of Wahlong on the main road, a forty minutes walk down the steep flight of steps, past a playing field, till a junction is reached. A hundred metres down the right hand junction, a little gully is reached which carries a perennial stream. Fifty metres downstream lay the cave entrance at the end of a blind gully. A ten metre entrance gives access to a 45˚ steep fifty metre slope into the cave. The main way on is through a hole on the floor of the passage among huge boulders. The shaft of about 21 metres deep could be descended in two bits of 12 and 7 m with a sloping ledge in between. The passage narrows down and gradually gains depth, with a number of little climbs of three to five metres. Four hundred metres from the entrance the passage splits into three directions, where survey of the cave was stopped due to shortage of time. A quick exploration of one of the passages however revealed a maze of smaller passages. The cave takes a lot of water during the monsoon. What lie ahead is the mystery and the beauty of caving. The cave could open up and go a long way or it could hit into a sandstone bed and fizzle out. The prospect however is good, for in the space of only four hundred metres it had already gained a vertical range of ninety seven metres. There are two ways of negotiating vertical drops one is by rope technique call SRT (Single Rope Technique) and by using flexible steel ladders in which both require training)
